Bucs expected to have Garcia, Brooks

As gametime approaches, it looks like the Bucs will have a number of injured players who will try to give it a go against the Chargers. NFL Network’s Scottt Hanson reports from Tampa that QB Jeff Garcia and LB Derrick Brooks — both listed as questionable this week by the team — will play today. Garcia has been bothered by a calf injury that kept him out of last week’s game, but coach Jon Gruden said this week he expected the veteran to play. Brooks, who has missed significant practice time because of a rib injury, was able to return to practice on Friday.

The Bucs are also expected to have all four starters along the defensive line, each of whom is battling an injury. DE Gaines Adams (ankle) and DE Greg White (shoulder) were both listed as questionable after being limited in practice on Friday. The starters on the inside — DT Chris Hovan (knee) and DT Jovan Haye (knee) — were also questionable after taking part in the full practice session.

Tampa Bay enters today’s game holding the No. 5 playoff seed in the NFC playoff picture. A win today, plus a losses by the Falcons and Eagles, secures a playoff spot for the Bucs.
