Jets grounded for a while — literally

The Jets left for Seattle hoping to halt their horrendous misfortune this season on the West Coast, where they’ve gone 0-3.

But even this trip didn’t begin smoothly.

Due to the snowstorm that blanketed much of the country Friday, the Jets sat in their plane on the runway for close to 4 1/2 hours. By the time they took off and arrived in Seattle, it was nearly a 10-hour plane trip.

Ironically, Jets coach Eric Mangini attempted to switch the scheduled departure date from Friday to Saturday, since New York left for its other West Coast games two days in advance. But the airline couldn’t accommodate the change, so the Jets left Friday — the day of the storm. Which led to the massive delay. Which did not please many in the organization. Which meant the trip started in a way the Jets hope it doesn’t end.
