Signs point to Lions beating Saints

Anyone searching for signs that Detroit can get its first win of the season Sunday against New Orleans needs only to study history.

Back in December 1977, at a time Tampa Bay never had won an NFL game and had lost a league-record 26 consecutive games, the Buccaneers traveled to New Orleans to play the Saints. And won.

Now, the Saints are traveling to Detroit, where the winless Lions hope to derail themselves from the path to imperfection.

And there is another sign a Lions victory could be in the making: New Orleans is 1-6 on the road this season. Few teams have struggled on the road quite like the Saints. And a loss Sunday could lead some Saints fans to break out the bags that covered their heads when their team was the ‘Aints.
