Strange but true: In 47 NFL seasons, Minnesota never has had one of its running backs lead the league in rushing.
In 42 seasons, Atlanta never has had one of its running backs lead the league in rushing.
Yet heading into Week 16, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson leads the league in rushing with 1,581 yards. Falcons running back Michael Turner is second with 1,421 yards. One of these backs is going to win the rushing title –- and give his franchise its first NFL rushing title.
The Vikings and Falcons have not had a running back win a rushing title in a combined 89 years of existence. Adrian Peterson or Michael Turner is going to change that this season.
