Coughlin optimistic about Jacobs being ready

New York will list Brandon Jacobs as questionable, but Giants coach Tom Coughlin sounded even more optimistic about the availability of his top running back for Sunday night’s showdown against Carolina.

“Jacobs has practiced, really, all three days,” Coughlin said Friday. “Barring something that would be a setback –- which means we have to see tomorrow morning, basically –- and hopefully he will go.”

Coughlin was less definitive about the chances of injured defensive tackle Fred Robbins playing against Carolina. Like Jacobs, Robbins will be listed as questionable.

“He got better towards the end of the week,” Coughlin said of Robbins, “but we will have to wait and see.”
