Tarvaris Jackson was selected as the Vikings’ starting quarterback and might be a tempting option Sunday against the Falcons. He’s just not necessarily a good one.
Jackson threw five touchdown passes with no interceptions in his last two games against the Lions and Cardinals. And yes, the Falcons do rank near the bottom of the NFL in passing defense, but they’re playing much better, allowing just three touchdown passes in their last three games.
Starting Jackson over a guy like Ben Roethlisberger or Eli Manning is an option. But come on, just because the Vikings are risking their championship hopes on Jackson doesn’t mean you need to do the same. Jackson is a fine second quarterback option to be used in an emergency situation. Otherwise, you need to stick with the guys who got you there.
