Ward most hated in Baltimore?

Hines Ward is the type of player who seems to relish a huge block more than a touchdown reception. His hard-nose play has made him a hero in a blue-collar town like Pittsburgh. But it also has made him a lightning rod of hate in places such as Baltimore. And that’s just fine with him.
Ward opens up to Pittsburgh Post Gazette columnist Ron Cook about his love/hate relationship with Baltimore.
- “There is nothing like beating Baltimore,” a very satisfied Ward said Sunday night as he strolled out of M&T Bank Stadium with a 13-9 smackdown of the Ravens, the AFC North Division title and a first-round playoff bye.
- “I love being the most-hated guy here,” he said. “I love beating them while [their fans] are flicking me off.” MORE
Old time Baltimore fans, however, might not be ready to give the “most hated” crown to Ward just yet. There are likely many that still remember Dave Casper and the “Ghost to the Post.”
