Bengals’ youngsters receive opportunity

The Bengals have won just two games this season, and injuries have had a lot to do with the 11 losses. Cincinnati has placed a single-season franchise-record 23 players on injured reserve.

The Cincinnati Enquirer‘s Mark Curnutte writes that an injury to one player opens a door for another to gain valuable experience.

    One of the upsides, maybe the only one, of an injury-riddled NFL season is the opportunity young players have to get on the field. … Among them are offensive linemen Anthony Collins and Nate Livings and defensive tackle Pat Sims and linebacker Darryl Blackstock, who has started the past two games at defensive end.
