Lions’ Johnson gets plenty of work

Although the winless Lions have had a rotating cast at quarterback, their star receiver, Calvin Johnson, has been a big target for whoever is throwing the ball. Against the Colts, Johnson caught a career-high nine passes for 110 yards.

The Detroit Free Press‘s Nicholas J. Cotsonika writes that Dan Orlovsky, who lined up under center on Sunday, wanted to throw Johnson’s way 12 times :

Entering Sunday’s game, Dan Orlovsky wanted to do what Lions fans have wanted for two years. “I really wanted to get Calvin the football,” he said. “You can’t point to a point this year where we have gotten him the football and he hasn’t responded.” MORE
