Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford is an underclassman, but he just might have punched his ticket to Detroit one day.
No team has been as drawn to Heisman winners as the Lions, who have drafted eight of them in the first round and signed four others.
The 12 Heisman Trophy winners to have played in Detroit: Frank Sinkwich (1942), Glenn Davis (1946), Doak Walker (1948), Leon Hart (1949), Howard Cassady (1955), Steve Owens (1969), Billy Sims (1978), Barry Sanders (1988), Andre Ware (1989), Ty Detmer (1990), Desmond Howard (1991), Gino Torretta (1992). Of that group, the first-round picks were Sinkwich, Davis, Hart, Cassady, Owens, Sims, Sanders and Ware.
Detroit is expected to have the No. 1 pick in April. If Bradford comes out, the Lions will have the opportunity to add their 13th Heisman winner.
