Saints’ playoff hopes should be clear after tonight

With Thursday night’s game about to kick off, New Orleans’ view of the playoffs could come into focus.

If New Orleans is able to beat Chicago — and that will not be easy — the Saints have a legitimate chance to claim one of the NFC’s two wild-card spots.

With a win tonight, New Orleans would move to 8-6 with games remaining at Detroit and at home against Carolina. And remember, NFC South teams are 24-2 at home this season, including 10-0 in intra-division games.

So one victory tonight for the Saints brings the playoffs squarely into focus. One loss means the curtain comes down on New Orleans’ season.
