New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Doug Marrone interviewed for the Syracuse head coaching position on Sunday, sources told NFL Network’s Scott Hanson.
Marrone, who played football at Syracuse in the mid-’80s, flew from New Orleans to Syracuse to meet with athletic director Dr. Daryl Gross shortly after the Saints’ 29-25 win over the Atlanta Falcons. It was his second interview for the job. Marrone was expected to fly back to New Orleans late Sunday to begin preparation for the Saints’ Thursday night game in Chicago (NFL Network 8 p.m. ET).
East Carolina head coach Skip Holtz is thought to be the leading candidate for the Syracuse job, according to Hanson, and will meet with SU officials on Monday.
