Saints hot at home

Should be a good one here today. Hard to get a feel for how it will go, though. The Falcons beat the Saints earlier this year, but the Saints are a different team at home. They’ve won three straight home games, scoring 34-plus points in each.

  • Deuce McAllister and Will Smith will both play, as their four-game suspensions have been temporarily halted due to a court injunction. Still, it will be interesting to see how much Deuce is actually used. He’s only averaging five carries per game over the past month. Many Saints fans are puzzled and angry over the way coach Sean Payton has used him.
  • I spoke with Falcons coach Mike Smith before the game — quite a calm, collected guy, by the way — and rookie LT Sam Baker will not play. His back just isn’t right yet, while FS Erik Coleman will give it a go with a deep quad bruise.
