Portis expected to play for Redskins vs. Ravens

There were suggestions out of Washington this week that the Redskins would be better off resting running back Clinton Portis against the tough Ravens defense, and allowing him to recover from his knee and neck injuries.

Not happening.

After going through the past two days of practice, the Redskins fully are expecting Portis to play Sunday night against Baltimore. They’ll need him, too. Weather conditions are expected to be treacherous at best, with high winds, possible snow, and chilly conditions.

In weather like that, it’s more important than ever to be able to move the ball on the ground. Portis will help Washington’s running attack and its chances of winning.
