Bucs’ Haye likely out vs. Panthers

It looks like the Buccaneers will be without starting defensive tackle Jovan Haye for Monday night’s NFC South showdown against the Carolina Panthers.

Haye has not practiced this week due to a knee injury and if he can’t start, then former Chiefs first-round pick Ryan Sims will. Fortunately for Tampa Bay, Sims’ strong suit is his run defense, which will come in handy against Panthers running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart.

“I’m comfortable with (Sims),” Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden said this weekend. “Obviously we would miss Jovan because he has played a lot, but Sims is a very good player. We will have to lean on him.”
