Birds of a feather

Former college teammates Matt Cassel and Lofa Tatupu are poised to square off when the Patriots and Seahawks meet at Qwest field this Sunday, but as the Boston Globe‘s Adam Kilgore notes, when the two friends met at the University of Southern California in 2002, neither seemed poised to make much of an impact on the NFL.

Kilgore writes:

    Tatupu was a transfer from Maine, a step too slow and a size too small for most scouts. Cassel was a backup quarterback stuck behind a Heisman Trophy winner, Matt Leinart, who would graduate the same year as him. MORE
