Portis among starters held out by Redskins

The Redskins held eight players out of practice for the second straight day on Thursday — DE Andre Carter (foot), LB London Fletcher (foot), DT Kedric Golston (ankle), RB Clinton Portis (knee/back), OT Chris Samuels (knee), CB Shawn Springs (calf), LB Marcus Washington (ankle) and CB Fred Smoot (non injury) — while a ninth, DT Cornelius Griffen (shoulder/Abdomen), took part in a limited portion.
Golston and Washington, who has been out since Week 11, were the only players among the group who did not play last week against the Giants. Portis, who coach Jim Zorn described Wednesday as a game-time decision for the fourth week in a row, said there was no doubt he would play against the Ravens.
