Giants’ Pierce questioned by NFL

Giants president & CEO John Mara and general manager Jerry Reese held an impromptu news conference at Fed Ex Field prior to Sunday’s game against the Redskins, where they acknowledged linebacker Antonio Pierce was questioned by NFL security regarding Plaxico Burress’ accidental shooting, reports senior writer Steve Wyche.

Pierce was questioned on Saturday night at the team hotel, and is cooperating fully with authorities, according to Mara and Reese. They said there had been no thought about sitting Pierce for Sunday’s game against the Redskins.

Reese told reporters he has tried to call Burress, but has not heard back. Mara indicated that he had not had contact with Burress.
