Tuesday should be a happy day for Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb — it’s his birthday.
McNabb turned 32 Tuesday. And clearly, 32 is a crossroads in his career.
Two Sundays ago, McNabb learned there were ties in the NFL, and last Sunday McNabb learned that there are few ties that bind.
What McNabb might learn Thanksgiving night, when the Eagles play the Cardinals on NFL Network, is that he will be evaluated on a game-to-game basis. No longer will he be afforded the automatic starter status that had belonged to him since 2000.
Now, with any poor performance, McNabb is apt to be relegated to the bench, never to play for the Eagles again.
