Burress, Jacobs will need medical clearance

When the injury report comes out later today, the Giants will list running back Brandon Jacobs as probable and wide receiver Plaxico Burress as questionable.

Yet Giants coach Tom Coughlin indicated that whether the players play Sunday at arizona is a decision out of his hands.

Here is part of the question and answer session from Coughlin’s Friday presser:

Q:  How do you want to handle (Burress) and Brandon?  Do you want to be very conservative or more conservative?
A:  If the medical people say they can play and if they are in the right frame of mind, then they will play.

Q:  What do you mean by ‘right frame of mind?’
A:  They are anxious, and obviously excited about the opportunity and all that goes into playing a game –- playing with your heart.  The medical people will make the call.

Q: Shouldn’t that not be a question at this time of year?
A:  Don’t make a big deal out of that.  I’m not commenting on that.  All I’m saying is if the medical people say that the guys can play, okay, then there will be strong consideration that they would play.
