Portis continues to sit out for Redskins

Redskins coach Jim Zorn isn’t in an enviable position with injured RB Clinton Portis, who is unable to practice due to a sprained knee but vowed on Wednesday to play against the Seahawks. Portis, who was listed as questionable last week but was able to play against the Cowboys, missed his second day of practice Thursday and is essentially a game-time decision again this week.
“Right now, just based on Clinton not practicing, I don’t want to have my hands tied too much, just in case he can’t go,” Zorn said. “I have to have somebody ready. Some of it will depend on what he does towards the end of this week. He didn’t practice at all last week and he played well and he played hard. That could be a game time decision.”
With top backup Ladell Betts battling a knee injury, and FB Mike Sellers and RB Rock Cartwright valuable contributors on special teams, Zorn is facing a difficult decision on the status of Portis and keeping former NFL MVP Sean Alexander active against his former team, the Seahawks.
