‘Mr. Automatic’ keeps faith with saving kick

With his 56-yard field-goal on Monday night, Phil Dawson saved the Browns from a devastating three-game skid and fan ridicule after almost letting another 13-point lead slip away.

Marla Ridenour of the Beacon Journal writes that Dawson’s career long field goal on that bitterly cold night in Buffalo also lifted the spirits of his teammates and breathed new life into the Browns’ locker room.

”It helps me sleep better. It was a huge win for us, a huge win for the organization, a huge win for the city,” Browns’ co-captain Andra Davis said. ”The last couple weeks we’ve let a couple games slip away. Thank God for Mr. Automatic, Phil Dawson, or it would be another sad day in Cleveland.” More
