Bengals’ Palmer to sit out … again

Anyone hoping to flip on NFL Network on Thursday night and see Carson Palmer playing quarterback for the Bengals is going to be disappointed. Again.

Once again, the Bengals will not allow Palmer and his inflamed right elbow to play. Once again, Palmer will be on Cincinnati’s sideline, the No. 3 quarterback, as he has been since Oct. 12.

And now that it already has been determined Palmer will be on the bench for week 12 matchup at Pittsburgh, it is fair to wonder if and when Cincinnati’s veteran quarterback will play again. After Thursday night’s game in Pittsburgh, Cincinnati will have five games remaining — Baltimore, at Indianapolis, Washington, at Cleveland, Kansas City.

What would be the point of allowing Palmer, Cincinnati’s franchise, to play in any of those games? The Bengals keep clinging to hope that Palmer might be able to play again this season. But it is looking more and more doubtful.
