Jacobs underwent MRI on knee

On NFL Network’s Sunday pregame show Gameday Morning — the first Sunday morning pregame show, as our bosses like to bill it — Marshall Faulk predicted that Giants running back Brandon Jacobs would get hurt against the Baltimore Ravens.
Faulk knows a thing or two about punishing defenses, and punishing running styles, and he could see the collisions coming before they actually happened.
Sure enough, Jacobs did, though it does not seem to be serious — for now.
Jacobs injured his knee Sunday, underwent an MRI on Monday and is awaiting results to determine his availability against the Arizona Cardinals.
“There is a little swelling, he is walking really well,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Monday. “They are going to do all of the tests. But hopefully we can get this under control.”
Yet as physical as he is, Jacobs has not altered his playing style this season in the slightest. He is running harder than ever, which is a good thing for the Giants and him, as Jacobs is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after this season.
“He is a physical ball carrier and I think that his game, that is part of his game,” Coughlin said. “And he has done a good job of dishing it out as well as taking it. He takes a lot of hits as everyone knows. But he has done a great job of preparing himself and taking care of himself with getting in here every day and making sure that he is able to go on the weekend.”
And the Giants hope he is able to go again this weekend.
