Quick show of hands, how many of you were thinking of Dennis Green and “we let ‘em off the hook” while watching the final moments of the Cardinals’ 29-24 win over the 49ers? Don’t worry, you probably weren’t alone if you did. But the Cardinals did something unusual on Monday night.
In fact, they won a game they probably should have lost. Paola Boivin of The Arizona Republic says the old Cardinals would have lost that game.
- They were, at times, the Sloppy Old Cardinals, but when they had the opportunity to crash and burn on a national stage, they didn’t, beating San Francisco 29-24 on Monday night at University of Phoenix Stadium. MORE
And — there is a theme here — East Valley Tribune columnist Scott Bordrow says that the Cardinals should feel fortunate that they are expectations that the team didn’t reach on Monday night.
- Think about it. Back in August, what Cardinals fan wouldn’t have been giddy about a 6-3 record and a four-game lead in the NFC West? But the Cardinals have come so far that now, wins aren’t satisfactory. They can’t just beat a miserable team like the 49ers. They have to win big and look good in the process. MORE
