Redskins coach Jim Zorn announced Monday that Clinton Portis is unable to practice due to a sprained knee.
Portis injured his knee on the final play of the first quarter during a Week 9 loss to the Steelers. He did return and was able to finish the game, but the pain became worse after Portis was treated.
Zorn also said that Portis has a bone bruise on the femur as well.
This is potentially devastating news for fantasy football owners, as Portis has been the top running back in the league and a reliable source of production. He currently leads all runners in fantasy points on NFL.com.
With Ladell Betts also injured, Shaun Alexander and Rock Cartwright would both pick up carries if Portis were to miss Sunday night’s important NFC East game against the rival Dallas Cowboys.
If you have Portis, it’s advised to add one of these back now as insurance.
