Time not on side of Rams’ Jackson

Rams RB Steven Jackson believes if he had another day of rest, he would have been able to prove to coach Jim Haslett he was ready to play in today’s game against the New York Jets. Jackson told NFL Network’s Lindsay Soto he was hoping to workout on Saturday in an effort to play. Haslett said earlier this week if Jackson was unable to practice on Friday, he would be held out.

“We decided that another week’s rest was best for the rest of season, and I understand that,” Jackson told the NFL Network.

Jackson, who attempted to return last week from his thigh injury but was in and out of the game, admitted he should have sat out another week in an attempt to fully heal from the injury.
