Warner for MVP? He has the numbers

Kurt Warner appeared to be on his way out of the NFL a few years ago, but now he is one of the candidates MVP while leading the first-place Cardinals. Not bad for a guy who started training camp behind Matt Leinart. Coach Ken Whisenhunt believes that Warner has the numbers to be the MVP, reports Mike Tulumello of the East Valley Tribune.
- “I certainly think he should be given consideration for it, absolutely,” coach Ken Whisenhunt said Monday, in response to a reporter’s question. “He’s playing at a high level.”
Warner won the MVP award in 2001, but followed it up with a couple of injury-plauged seasons before landing in New York in 2004 and eventually Arizona in 2005. Whisenhunt also said that Leinart could see some playing time soon. MORE
