Warner for MVP? He has the numbers

Kurt Warner appeared to be on his way out of the NFL a few years ago, but now he is one of the candidates MVP while leading the first-place Cardinals. Not bad for a guy who started training camp behind Matt Leinart. Coach Ken Whisenhunt believes that Warner has the numbers to be the MVP, reports Mike Tulumello of the East Valley Tribune.

“I certainly think he should be given consideration for it, absolutely,” coach Ken Whisenhunt said Monday, in response to a reporter’s question. “He’s playing at a high level.”

Warner won the MVP award in 2001, but followed it up with a couple of injury-plauged seasons before landing in New York in 2004 and eventually Arizona in 2005. Whisenhunt also said that Leinart could see some playing time soon. MORE
