Jurevicius planning 2009 return to Browns

Browns receiver Joe Jurevicius won’t play at all in the 2008 season due to a knee injury, but plans to return for the 2009 season.

“I’m here to let the city of Cleveland know that I’m not retiring,” Jurevicius said during the Browns’ Monday press conference. “I am going to come back and play football for my beloved Browns and my beloved city.

“I know I have a lot of gas left in the tank. I am walking off the football field with an orange helmet on my head and not with a pair of jeans on.”

Jurevicius has had six procedures on his right knee since the end of the 2007 season.

“Joe is a professional and a team player,” Browns coach Romeo Crennel said Monday. “He wanted to play for the Browns and wants to go out on a good note.”
