The Chicago Bears lost starters QB Kyle Orton and S Mike Brown to injuries on Sunday and neither returned to the game against the Lions.
Orton suffered an ankle injury and was carted off the field late in the second quarter. He was injured while being tackled on the sideline when the Lions’ Dewayne White fell on him, and was in obvious pain after attempting to walk on his own.
Backup QB Rex Grossman started the second half and played the rest of the game for the Bears, completing 9 of 19 passes for 58 yards with one touchdown and one interception, as well as a 1-yard TD run.
Chicago S Mike Brown left the game during the second quarter with what The AP is reporting as a calf injury. Trainers appeared to be checking Brown’s lower right leg on the sideline. He left the sideline early before halftime and was walking under his own power.
