Inside the numbers: Week 13

A look at what went down in the early games of Week 13, including a big day by Carolina’s DeAngelo Williams at Lambeau Field.

Carucci: Steelers state strong claim in AFC

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — A couple of thoughts floated through my mind as I watched the steady downpour saturate Gillette Stadium and the Steelers rip this game away from the Patriots in the second half on their way to a 33-10 victory.

Bears-Vikings inactives

RB Adrian Peterson will see some carries behind RB Matt Forte with Jones out. TE Desmond Clark is active, but he’s an inconsistent fantasy option.

DE Jared Allen and S Madieu Williams are active and will start, as expected.

The Tyler-to-Gonzo connection

Tyler Thigpen is having a dreadful game in Oakland, throwing for 150 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. Of course, that hasn’t hurt Tony Gonzalez, who has eight receptions and 110 of those yards.

Anyone who would trade Tom Brady…

Matt Cassel is a nice player, but come on, he’s not Tom Brady. And that was proven on Sunday.

Browns receivers lose fantasy value

Don’t count on the Browns receivers to have much fantasy impact down the stretch now that Derek Anderson is likely out for the year.

Browns lose Anderson, Winslow in defeat

The struggling Browns not only lost to the Colts on Sunday, they may have lost starting QB Derek Anderson and star TE Kellen Winslow to serious injuries.

Two TDs for Jets Jones

Thomas Jones just scored his second touchdown of the afternoon, this one on a 29-yard run, during the first half of Sunday’s game against the Broncos. The veteran runner now has 105 yards and two scores on just nine carries.

Jones runs over Broncos for TD

Thomas Jones, who has become an elite running back in fantasy circles this season, just took one 59 yards to the house for his 12th touchdown of the season. He’s become a must-start running back in most leagues.

Panthers RB Williams = fantasy hero!

DeAngelo Williams has now scored four 1-yard touchdowns in Sunday’s game at Green Bay. He’s scored a total of 31 points on and continues to be one of the most consistent and productive backs in fantasy football.

Wyche: No Burress, no problem for Giants

The saying usually goes something like this: The only thing that can stop the (fill in the blank) is themselves. Well, when it comes to the New York Giants that might not even come into play.

The potential distraction of the Friday night shooting at a New York night club that injured wide receiver Plaxico Burress and involved, in some manner, linebacker Antonio Pierce, never reached its potential.

I can see it now …

I’m going to get about 1,000 “Should I bench Clinton Portis this week” questions … So here is what you should do.

More bad news for Browns

The Browns lost QB Derek Anderson late in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 10-6 loss to the Colts to an undisclosed injury.

Colts Manning hurts fantasy owners

Peyton Manning threw for a dreadful 125 yards with no touchdowns and had three turnovers in a 10-6 win over the Browns.

That was good for one measly fantasy points on

Three scores for Panthers RB Williams

DeAngelo Williams just scored his third 1-yard touchdown of the afternoon in what’s become a great game in Green Bay. While his yardage total (75 scrimmage) isn’t great, his three scores will make Williams a top fantasy scorer once again.
