NFL suspends RB Johnson for Week 10

Larry Johnson has been a real headache for fantasy leaguers in recent weeks.
Due to his off-field issues, he was deactivated the past two games. Then came word that the Chiefs would hold him out of this week’s game against the Buccaneers. Now the NFL has suspended Johnson an additional game (Week 10 at San Diego).
With Johnson on the sidelines, Kolby Smith is expected to start and should be added off the waiver wire in most formats. He’s an unimpressive but viable flex option in larger leagues. Jamaal Charles, who’s listed as probable for Week 9 with an injured ankle, will also see his share of carries if he’s active.
Despite the fact that he’s killed a lot of fantasy backfields, owners should not release Johnson back into the free-agent pool. He has a few good matchups down the stretch and can still be a useful asset.
