As Eli Manning and the New York Giants prepare to face Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend, NFL Classic Games looks back at the first time the two quarterbacks met — as rookies in 2004 — on Friday, Oct. 24 at 9 p.m. ET, exclusively on NFL Network.
Manning, who was the first draft pick that season, completed 16 of 23 passes for 182 yards and two touchdowns, while Roethlisberger, whom the Steelers took with the 11th pick in the draft, completed 18 of 28 passes for a season-high 316 yards. The Giants lost to the Steelers, 33-30, in an exciting game that featured seven lead changes. The result was the Giants’ seventh consecutive loss that season and Pittsburgh’s 12th straight victory.
Following the Friday premiere, the game will encore later Friday night at 1 a.m ET and again Saturday at 2 p.m.
