Fullbacks making news in Tampa

Fullbacks usually don’t make news. But in Tampa they do.
The Buccaneers are honoring franchise great Mike Alstott during halftime of Sunday night’s game against Seattle, they have lost starting fullback B.J. Askew to a torn hamstring, they have placed fullback Byron Storer on the season-ending injured reserve list, and they have re-signed fullback Jameel Cook, who played with the team when it won its only Super Bowl. That’s a lot of fullback news.
Cook is a powerful blocker who was the Buccaneers sixth-round pick in 2001. The Houston Texans recently released him and once he was on the street, Tampa jumped at the chance of re-signing him. Now Cook is expected to play Sunday night, on a big night for fullbacks in Tampa.
