League will not push back trade deadline

This morning, Dan Patrick posed an interesting question: why doesn’t the NFL push back the trade deadline? Instead of today, 4 p.m. ET, it could be early December, when certain teams know they’re out of it and would be more inclined to deal significant players to contenders.
Well, upon further review, the league is not considering any push-back of the deadline, nor will it anytime soon. The later in the season the league moves the trade deadline, the more struggling teams would be willing to dump players, which the league wants to avoid.
It’s an intriguing idea, moving the trade deadline. It’s just not happening.
