Westbrook among three starters out for Eagles

Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid announced during his press conference on Friday that running back Brian Westbrook (rib, ankle), guard Shawn Andrews (back) and wide receiver Reggie Brown (groin) will not play in Sunday’s contest against the San Francisco 49ers.
Westbrook fractured two ribs in last week’s loss to the Redskins. Reid believes he can use this week and the bye week to fully heal.
“Brian wants to go,” said Reid. “He’s in the mindset that he wants to play, but it’s a decision that I’ve got to make. He’s a tough nut and I know that. I’ve got to do what I think is best for him and the football team down the road. It made the decision a little easier for me than it is for him. Obviously, he wants to contribute and compete.”
