Quarterbacks Drew Stanton and Dan Orlovsky split reps for the second consecutive day on Thursday as the Lions practiced without starter Jon Kitna. The Lions’ veteran starter missed his second consecutive practice on Thursday as he battles back spasms, and will likely be a game-time decision on Sunday against the Vikings.

“Well he’s sore, and we’ll have to like you do a lot of times in these things, it may come to looking at a workout Sunday morning,” said offensive coordinator Jim Colletto. “So you don’t know. All this stuff we’re doing he’s done before, so it’s not like he has to start from scratch.”

Coach Rod Marinelli wouldn’t commit on Wednesday to saying Kitna could play without practicing. If Kitna sits out, Orlovsky is the expected starter. Orlovsky replaced Kitna in the second half of last week’s 34-7 loss to Chicago and completed 13 of 23 passes for 97 yards with one interception.
