Good news for fantasy football fans — Marques Colston was catching passes from Drew Brees on Wednesday. The bad news is that it did not help your fantasy football team.
At least not yet.
Colston has played in only one game this season, recording three receptions for 26 yards, before being sidelined with a broken thumb. Hardly a return on the heavy investment that many of you likely paid for Colston in your drafts. A return on Sunday against the Raiders could help ease that pain.
Of course, many of you would be nervous to start Colston if he returned this week. Don’t be. Seahawks receiver Bobby Engram hasn’t played since August, but he had no trouble getting back into the swing against the Giants with eight receptions for 61 yards.
Tight end Jeremy Shockey also participated in practice on Wednesday and also could be ready to play against the Raiders.
“I’m more optimistic,” coach Sean Payton said. “I was pleased with what I saw today and I saw more than I expected to see. Both of them actually took reps and moved around well. We’ll see tomorrow how they feel, especially when it comes to Jeremy. But Marques looked good.”
From his lips to the Fantasy Gods’ ears, let’s hope he is right about that.
