Decision expected Wednesday on Bucs’ QB

The Buccaneers will continue to monitor the health of Brian Griese and Jeff Garcia before selecting a starter for next week, coach Jon Gruden said during his Monday press conference.
“We’re going to address the quarterback situation once we get all the facts,” Gruden said. “Obviously, health is going to be an issue.”
Griese suffered a swollen right elbow after being hit on a blitz by Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey midway through the third quarter of Sunday’s 16-13 loss. After replacing Griese, Garcia took a number of hard hits himself before leading the Buccaneers on their first, and only, touchdown drive of the game, a 13-play, 90-yard march that culminated with a 7-yard strike to receiver Ike HIlliard.
“Well, you know what? Brian (Griese) played pretty well. Jeff (Garcia) did pretty well,” Gruden said. “Denver used some strange tactics yesterday. They’d been a man-to-man team throughout the first month of the season and yesterday they rushed three 23 times.”
An update on the situation is expected Wednesday, four days before a big NFC South showdown with the Panthers.
