Branch returns, then exits, for Seahawks

Deion Branch made his season debut for the Seahawks in Week 5 after missing nearly 10 months with a torn ACL he suffered last season. His return was brief, however, as he left Sunday’s game vs. the Giants with a left heel injury and didn’t play during the second half. Branch finished with three receptions for 31 yards.
“I hope he isn’t gone for too long,” said coach Mike Holmgren during his postgame news conference.
The Seahawks had an injury scare on their first offensive drive of the game when QB Matt Hasselbeck appeared to injure his right knee. Hasselbeck, who was hit on a third-down pass attempt but returned for the next drive, said after the game he hyperextended his knee.
“I think I’m okay,” said Hasselbeck, who completed 11 of 21 passes for 105 yards and an interception. “I dodged a bullet I think. I’m not overly concerned about it.”
The Seahawks also lost CB Kelly Jennings during the first half with a concussion.
