Feud for thought? Not between Russell, Kiffin

Oakland owner Al Davis said in his press conference this week that former head coach Lane Kiffin did not want to draft QB JaMarcus Russell with the No. 1 pick in 2007. Paul Gutierrez of the Sacramento Bee reports that revelation was news to Russell.

“It just kind of came out of nowhere,” Gutierrez quotes Russell of Davis’ assertion. “I really don’t think myself, or coach Kiffin, or anybody else were looking for that to come out that way.”

So does Russell think it’s true?

“I don’t know, I really don’t,” he said. Full story
