Bengals add RB Cedric Benson

Isn’t it ironic that the Cincinnati Bengals have signed, of all people, Cedric Benson?

That’s what happened this week, as the team looked to fill the hole left on its roster when DeDe Dorsey was placed on injured reserve. Now comes word that Kenny Watson could be out another week with an injured hamstring. He missed Wednesday’s practice and could miss this week’s game in Dallas.

Benson’s presence won’t threaten the status of Chris Perry as the starter, but here’s the twist.

Perry also landed on the injury report after being limited on Wednesday with his own hamstring problem.

If Perry’s ailment is an issue (it’s not reported to be serious), Benson could see a decent workload against the Cowboys in the state where he starred as a collegiate back. Fantasy owners who have Perry might want to add Benson as a handcuff should a worst-case scenario occur, but he’s still not relevant in most formats.
