Players on an NFL team’s practice squad do the same things as the men on the 53-man roster — they put in the hours on the field, attend team meetings and have their own lockers. But on Sunday, they don’t sit on the sideline with the rest of the team. Practice squad players can work their way up to the active roster and some do, reports Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Larry Johnson has been a real headache for fantasy leaguers in recent weeks. Due to his off-field issues, he was deactivated the past two games. Then came word that the Chiefs would hold him out of this week’s game against the Buccaneers. Now the NFL has suspended Johnson an additional game (Week 10 at San Diego). With Johnson on the sidelines, Kolby Smith is expected to start and should be added off the waiver wire in most formats. He’s an unimpressive but viable flex option in larger leagues. Seattle cornerback Josh Wilson only has one tattoo, a depiction of his father’s football card inked directly over his heart. His father, Tim, played in the NFL for eight years and died in 1996 , when Tim Wilson was 11 years old. Danny O’Neil of The Seattle Times writes that Wilson has his dad’s toughness and at only 5-foot-9, is a first-year starter in Seattle.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers had the bye week to let his injured right shoulder recover. Rodgers was on a “pitch count” during practice Wednesday and Thursday, and on Friday the Packers listed Rodgers as probable ahead of Green Bay’s matchup with the undefeated Titans.

Green Bay dished out the cheese. The contract the Packers signed Aaron Rodgers to is a six-year, $65 million deal that includes $20 million guaranteed, a league source said.
