Let me say at the outset that what happened to Jaguars offensive tackle Richard Collier is horrifying, sickening, completely discouraging. My thoughts and prayers are with him. Nobody should ever have to endure what he is enduring now.

But let me also say that somebody needs to change the ESPN ticker. Since last night, the wording on the ticker has read: “Jaguars offensive tackle Richard Collier in good condition; he’s paralyzed from the waist down.”

Now, technically, the hospital might be listing Collier in good condition, but is that an apt and appropriate way to describe him right now? Especially on a ticker. Collier is not in good condition. He is in bad shape. We all are pulling for him. And the hope is ESPN tweaks its ticker to reflect the sobering information regarding Collier.
