So much for anyone’s theory that Lane Kiffin might survive. The Raiders have done what many expected they would do all along — they fired Kiffin.

They will hold a press conference at 5 p.m. ET, at which time team owner Al Davis will address his decision to fire his head coach.

Now that the Raiders have made a change, the questions will shift from whether Kiffin survives to whether he gets paid. He had this, and next year, remaining on his contract, and the Raiders are likely to try to withhold payment to Kiffin. Even though one drama is over, another is just beginning.
