Cable blocked for Linehan at Idaho

Some things are so good they can’t be made up. This is one.

In the most ironic and fun factoid of the week, new Raiders head coach Tom Cable was a teammate and protected quarterback Scott Linehan at the University of Idaho in the 1980s.

Cable attended Idaho from 1982-86, Linehan from 1982-87. And their head coach from 1982-85 was Dennis Erickson.

Also, someone from NFL Network just asked if Cable is the “interim” coach in Oakland or whether he’s the guy moving forward. Best answer: Cable’s the coach for now — they’re all interim in Oakland.
