The Steelers beat the Ravens in overtime, but the victory proved costly. Coach Mike Tomlin said in his postgame press conference that guard Kendall Simmons and running back Rashard Mendenhall will be placed on injured reserve.
Simmons left in the first half with an Achilles injury. He was taken to the locker room on a cart and didn’t return.
Mendenhall, a rookie making his first career start Willie Park hurt, went out on his first carry of the second half with a left shoulder fracture. He rushed nine times for 30 yards before leaving.
