A 76-yard field goal attempt???

Sebastian Janikowski just attempted a 76-yard field goal at the end of the first half against San Diego! The try fell at least 15 yards short.

That will probably be the longest field-goal attempt I ever see in my lifetime!

In St. Louis, Steven Jackson is running all over a Buffalo defense that has played part of the first half without injured DT Marcus Stroud. Jackson has 72 yards on the ground and scored his first touchdown of the season.

In an unrelated baseball note, my condolences to NFL.com senior editor and New York Mets fanatic Craig Ellenport. The Mets have choked for the second consecutive season and will join my Yankees on the golf course during the playoffs.

Craig, please stay away from all sharp, metal objects …
