Tomlinson loves playing the Raiders
Adam Rank | Tags: Adrian Peterson, Brian Westbrook, LaDainian Tomlinson
LaDainian Tomlinson has rushed for 190 yards and two touchdowns this season. While that might look like his normal line against the Raiders, that is his total after three games. Fantasy owners, no doubt, are feeling a little skittish right now.
And who can blame them?
Many of you Tomlinson owners likely celebrated when you drew the top pick in the draft. Or rejoiced when the guy in front of you took Adrian Peterson. (Ironically, the top three running backs in the draft — Tomlinson, Peterson, and Brian Westbrook — are all facing injury issues.)
But if there is one game where Tomlinson is bound to break out of his fantasy slump (yeah, he had a pair of touchdowns against the Jets, but only 67 yards), it will be in Week 4 against the Raiders. Tomlinson has rushed for 1,709 yards and 16 touchdowns in 14 career games against the Raiders. Far more than any other team. (Kansas City is next with 1,261 yards and 10 touchdowns entering 2008.) If there was ever a time for one of LT’s 30-point weeks, this is it.
Now some last minute checks.
- Why does Westbrook hate fantasy football owners? He fell down on the 1-yard line against the Cowboys last year. Now his bum ankle will have owners fretting well into Sunday night, when the Eagles play the Bears. The Eagles official site, however, suggests playing Correll Buckhalter. Hopefully, you have both players on your bench. Check this space for the Sunday night inactives, 90 minutes before kickoff.
- Peterson was listed as questionable on the team’s depth chart. But so was Chester Taylor. See if your league will allow you to play Peterson and Taylor as one, seeing that two questionable players should equal one healthy back.
- Brett Favre will start against the Cardinals. Was anybody concerned about this at all? Favre missing a game would be about as likely as John Elway marrying a former Raiders cheerleader. Well, at least it couldn’t happen in the same week.
- Anquan Boldin fell victim to the hamstring epidemic this week, and was a late addition to the injury report. There was no update on Saturday, but be sure to check out this space on Sunday morning to make sure he is active. He’s listed as probable, but a hamstring late in the week is something to keep an eye on.
- Darren McFadden was listed as probable with his foot injury last week. He’s questionable this week against the Chargers. With Justin Fargas already out, Michael Bush would become the starter if Fargas can’t go. Good luck to any of you who drafted Raiders running backs and Seahawks receivers this year.
And remember, Michael Fabiano will answer some of the last minute fantasy questions on Sunday morning. Submit your questions now to the Final Fantasy Countdown Week 4. (Good luck getting that song out of your head.) And if you need some fantasy sleepers, watch this.
