Whitner will not be fined for late hit

Football traditionalists will like this one.
Just as the Browns will not incur any fines for their physical play Sunday against the Ravens, Bills safety Donte Whitner will not be fined for his late tackle on Oakland wide receiver Johnnie Lee Higgins, who began showboating before he entered the end zone on his 84-yard touchdown catch.
Whitner tackled Higgins after he had scored. But the league determined — inciting applause in Buffalo — that Whitner’s offense was not fineable, even if it drew an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
